For each time type, one of three aggregation types can be selected:
The aggregation type determines how a time type is treated when calculating total working time.
Add is the appropriate aggregation type for paid working time. In general, Add is almost always the correct choice for paid time. Paid absences, such as paid sick leave, should also typically use the Add aggregation type.
Ignore is the correct choice for unpaid time that should not affect the total working time but should still be recorded. Typical examples include many types of breaks as well as time off in lieu.
Subtract is only required in very rare cases. Please carefully reconsider using this aggregation type before selecting it, as it is almost always used by mistake. See the next section for more information.
The Subtract aggregation type is only appropriate in very rare situations and is usually selected by mistake. For breaks, time off in lieu, unpaid absences, and similar time types, use the Ignore aggregation type.
Creating breaks that overlap with working time and setting the break time type to Subtract has many disadvantages and usually does not produce the desired result.
Instead, split the working time into separate work periods and create the break in between using the Ignore aggregation
